Parks and Recreation

I’m hanging out at the Things Tumblr page for another couple days or so. Recently, I’ve talked about some Parks and Rec related things.

Sadness Waffle

Galentine’s Day

I haven’t quite figured out how to talk about the series finale without bursting into tears yet. It was perfect and made me ugly cry with all the flash forwards, seeing these characters grow and stay the same.

Just to clarify, the episode wasn’t particularly sad. Everyone seemed to have gotten their happy endings. The series finale was the perfect platform to convey their hopefulness and their uncertainty. It’s so refreshing to have a cast of characters who honestly loved and cared for each others. What I loved most about this show was the friendships. As much as I love Leslie and Ben, April and Andy, and Ann and Chris, the friendships made this show what it was.

Now I’m on the hunt for another show to fill the hole in my soul. I think it will be a very long time before I find it.

The Fall

I finished The Fall after a series of snow days and delayed opening.

The series goes back and forth between Stella Gibson’s investigation of a series of murders in Belfast and Paul Spector, killer and loving father. Both seasons are available on Netflix for your binge-watching pleasure.

After I recommended the show to Krista, she created a separate WhatsApp chat room for all the feels. Mostly her feels towards the babysitter Katie. And Nazrine was the poor unsuspecting stranger who got caught in the middle of all this.

Krista:
OMG ALL OF THIS IS SICK.
WHAT IS UP WITH THE BABY SITTER I HATE IT.

I’ve already fallen in love with Gibson and Finnegan.
I want them to be a feminist powerhouse police team together.

OMG why is he journaling philosophically about his murders
Why is poor Olivia always there with her fucked up father.
She’s already a mess and he’s making it worse.

Cindy:
She’s probably a mess because of him.
And she’s all like “I love you most in the whole wide world.”

Krista:
I hate it.

Cindy:
#loveit

Nazrine:
Is this what peer pressure is?

Krista:
Our group has never been without peer pressure.
One more ep and I’m done with the first season.

Nazrine:
Am I being peer pressured into watching this show?

Krista:
Wait. I thought you were already watching it.
Whoops. My b.

Nazrine:
Um no I’ve just been reading the messages because lol
I might have to now though because of all your feels.
Now I’m intrigued

Krista:
Omg you should.
It’s just so confusing.
Condy does he get caught in the end
Bc I could not deal if he didn’t
Oh god, this last ep makes me sick.
I hate the babysitter. She has literally pieces together that he’s the killer and she’s just like ladida imma make out with him.

Cindy:
Oh wait. It gets worse.

Krista:
SHE NEEDS TO CALL THE POLICE NOT KIDNAP HIS KID JFC

Nazrine:
What the fuck is this show. I have to see it now.

Krista:
IT’S SO FUCKED UP.

OMG EW EW EW

THIS CANNOT BE REAL

Nazrine:
I love you Krista you do the best livewatches.

Krista:
WHY IS SHE GIVING HIM AN ALIBI

I HATE THIS BABYSITTER.

OMG Merlin is so hot.
He’s on the show and he’s so hot.

Cindy:
Oh!!! Anderson?

Krista:
Yeeesssss
OH MY GOD THE BABYSITTER AND PAUL MAKE IT ALL STOP
It’s so fucked up.

The interview. It looks like he’s starting to break.

What.
He just like. What. He turned it around.
I’m so uncomfortable with all of these details.

Cindy:
Have they interrogated anyone else yet?

Krista:
Oh yeah. I’ve seen the wife and the babysitter.

Cindy:
The babysitter is so fucked up.

Krista:
I’ve got 30 minutes left.
I know. I hate her.
Also if Anderson came in and asked me questions I’d fucking tell him everything.

Cindy:
You also find him attractive.

Krista:
She should too. I mean, he looks very similar to Paul.

Cindy:
Rose is secretly one of my favorite characters.

Krista:
She is so great. “I love and am loved.”
Like hell yeah you are gurl preach.

Cindy:
Gibson’s feminist lines.

Krista:
She is so on point.

Cindy:
I’d watch an entire shower of her saying those lines.

Krista:
But like everything about most of these characters has just been really uncomfortable.
Katie, what the hell.
She knows he did it and she likes it. I hate that.

Cindy:
I like that they show this clearly terrible person as this loving father.
Katie is a psycho.
Like she’s crazier than he is.

Krista:
Will never move on.
She willing let him fuck her up and I s2g she’s like yh imma carry this torch.

He and the daughter are talking.
I can’t.

Cindy:
I cried.

Krista:
Aw this is actually cute.
Like he loves her so much what the hell.
I hate it.

Are you kidding that was the end.

Cindy:
THAT WAS THE END.

I personally thought it was a little fucked up that she went to help Paul over Anderson.

Krista:
I totally noticed that.
Also she was so desperate to save his life.
I feel like Gibson could’ve been explored a lot more bc she was a mess too.

Cindy:
She also did a lot of whispering.
It was very expressive whispering.
But she whispered. The entire show.

Krista:
Well I’d say spoke with undertones
Rather than whispering.

Nazrine:
omfg 249 messages. I am not reading that.

Cindy:
You should. It contains great gems.

Nazrine:
Psycho babysitter sounds awesome.

Krista:
No

Where I’ve Been

I’ve been hanging out over at the Things Podcast tumblr page over the past couple of days. On Sunday, I released my interview with Jonathan Higgins, writer and talker about video games. In between his and the next episode, I’m going to sharing something from my desk every day. I’m on day 3 and I haven’t run out of things yet. It speaks to how many things I have on my desk and explains why I don’t work there.

Outside of the posts I’ve scheduled, expect a little bit of radio silence. Sort of.

I’ll be post a link to the Things post once it goes up on Tumblr so you can get in on the Things action too.
